We welcome every descendant of the Bras d'or
Indians to our Bras d'Or First Nation Community, however the
following points must be remembered:
No rights are associated with Band Cards issued by the Bras
d'Or First Nation Band. The card only confirms that you are a member of The Bras
d'Or First Nation Band.
We accept you as non-status Mi'kmaw.
Only Indian and North Affairs can grant Indian Status, not the Band.
If and when status comes to the Bras d'Or Mi'kmaw, only members whose documentation is accepted by Indian and Northern Affairs will be
entered into the Indian Registry, membership in the Band does not guarantee
status.
Membership in the Bras d'Or First Nations Band does not guarantee entitlement to any services
or programs unless specified.
Membership does not guarantee any rights and privileges unless specified.
The Bras d'Or First Nation Band is currently not an official Band of
the Union of Nova Scotia Indians.
